The 2021 NAAFC Festival will take place "Virtually" this year.
The Performances and results will be shared online on
Saturday 6th March 2021.
The NAAFC Virtual Festival has introduced a donor button which will provide spectators on the day, or supporters in general, to financially support this one off virtual event.
This will be a totally anonymous, discretionary opportunity to make a monetary contribution for the entertainment you have enjoyed at the
2021 NAAFC Virtual Festival.
Your continued support is invaluable to the preservation of this and other NAAFC hosted events.
** ENTRY DEADLINE FOR COMPETITIONS IS 21:00 ON 20th FEBRUARY 2021 **
THE 47th ANNUAL NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF ACCORDION AND FIDDLE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
On behalf of the Virtual Festival Committee, it is a pleasure to welcome all competitors, parents, teachers and supporters to our 1st ever Virtual Festival. We wish you a safe, prosperous New year.
We were all very disappointed that we will be unable to gather as usual at Grangemouth Town Hall, to renew friendships and enjoy our live day of music. However, we hope that news of our Virtual Festival will bring some cheer to you all, building up to our Virtual Festival date of Saturday 6th March 2021.
This year we have made the decision to reduce the number of competitions and we will review this ahead of next year. Our brand new Virtual Festival Webpage (naafcfestival.co.uk) has details of all competitions, provides a simple platform to enter online, together with updated rules. I would mention that we have merged the Under 10 Accordion solo class into the Under 12 Accordion solo class and the 60 and over class has been merged into the 40 and over class. We will however still award places for the Under 10 Accordion solo and 60 and over classes.
Please note that the closing date for submitting your video entries has been set to 20th February. All competition entries will be available to view online from 9am on the day of the Virtual Festival, with results being posted at 4pm that afternoon. Why not become an adjudicator for the day and see how your chosen winners compare to the professionals’ decisions?
We are delighted to confirm that a selection of the prize winners will be featured on BBC Radio Scotland’s “Take the Floor” on the day of the Virtual Festival, Saturday 6th March 2021.
Our adjudication panel once again comprises of some of the country’s most revered and respected musicians. Making her debut, all the way from Texas, is Judi Nicolson. (There are some benefits to holding a Virtual Festival after all). We are also delighted to welcome back James Coutts, Graham Laurie, Ian Muir, Wayne Robertson and Claire Telford.
Next year’s Festival will be as usual on the first Saturday in March so please make a note in your diaries for the 5th March 2022 hopefully returning to Grangemouth Town Hall. Further details will be posted on our webpage sites.
I have detailed the names of our Festival Committee below and should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us via the webpage.
I hope you enjoy our first, and hopefully last, Virtual Festival.
