JACKIE RAEBURN
JACKIE RAEBURN
Jackie was introduced to Scottish music from the age of two and a half as a highland dancer. She was a competitive dancer and teacher and won many prizes at various championships and highland games throughout Scotland, Including being a gold medallist at the Cowal Gathering.
She started playing the piano accordion at the age of seven and switched to the five row when she was eleven, Under the tuition of Jimmy Shand Jnr.
In 1982, at the age of nineteen and a pupil of Bert Pozzi, Jackie was the first female to win the All Scotland Senior Open Accordion Championship for traditional music at Bill Wilkie's Accordion Festival in Perth. On the same day, She also won the Senior Open Accordion competition for Pipe Music and the All Scotland Senior Ladies Accordion Championship for traditional Scottish music.
Jackie has played and broadcast both at home and abroad with numerous bands and trios throughout the years either playing first accordion, second accordion or piano.
STELLA WILKIE
STELLA WILKIE
Stella grew up in Dundee playing in dance bands with her late father Tom Clark and brother Kevin. She had the privilege of being tutored by family friends Angus Fitchet and Ian Powrie.
While studying at Aberdeen University she played with the Banchory Strathspey and Reel Society where she learned to appreciate the different fiddle styles across Scotland.
After competition success in the early 1980s Stella began appearing as a guest artiste at Accordion and Fiddle Clubs. Shetland soon became one of her favourite places to play. Stella plays with Hjaltibonhoga and the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo which has given her many musical, social and travel opportunities.
She has travelled widely playing her fiddle and when work took her to Australia in 2015 she made new musical connections. Stella combined her musical life with a fulltime professional career as a hospital Doctor. Now that retirement has arrived she is delighted to be able to concentrate more fully on playing music and enjoying the friendships it has nurtured. Stella is delighted to be a judge at the NAAFC championships where she herself won in 1984.
